Should you Try Duke Cannon THICK Body Wash?
We are especially qualified to review body wash. Let’s get way too personal for a minute.
I (Male): work in an office so have to fit that aesthetic and energy 9-5, Monday to Friday. I am familiar with putting on a dress shirt, nice watch, and the smells that your older boss may find appropriate, as opposed to a middle school gym class.
My FiancĂ© (Female): Is in touch with the girlies. She knows that they want rugged, but not “hasn’t showered since 1372.” She isn’t afraid to tell me how I smell, and I love that about her.
I (Male): Love biking but also happen to be a naturally sweaty person. I freely acknowledge this combo often leaves me needing a thorough shower.
My Fiancé (Female): Has extremely sensitive skin, and is often limited in the products she can use. This has made her an expert at reviewing the feeling of products, and knowing the difference between exfoliating-scrub-your-skin-off and exfoliating-feels-good.
We (Male and Female): Are the perfect people for you to trust your body wash decisions to.
Not all that long ago, I got pretty tired of using the same Irish Spring every single day. I felt like I smelled good and all that, but I just wanted to mix it up. I had been feeling this for quite a while, and then the incident happened. Let me set the scene: It’s 6:15 a.m. I am showering before heading to work, and I am TIRED. The last thing I want to do is go to work, but showering is my one place of relaxation. I am able to clear my mind, love my life, and enjoy a relaxing moment before going to work. At least, that’s how it was supposed to go.
I was right at the end of my Irish Spring bottle, but I was stubborn, and I knew for a fact there was enough left in there for one more wash. I shook the bottle up and down, I squeezed hard, I said a little prayer, but I was only able to get a very small amount out of the bottle. Reluctantly, I moved my hands to rub them together and get a good lather going. When I moved my left hand the small amount of soap I had simply slipped off my hand and I had to watch as it went down the drain.
My relaxing shower was ruined, and I was forced to use (admittedly great smelling smelling) Coconut Butter Softsoap Exfoliating Body Wash Scrub. Now that I was done relaxing, I was in full-blown solution mode. I shook my hand, and yet the body wash stayed in my hand. Why were women getting such an excellent body wash that scrubbed well and didn’t slip out of your hand, but men were stuck with a body wash that sucked.
I set out to find a body wash that would never slip again, and I tried more than a few. I had a few key criteria. It had to not slip out of my hand, my fiancé had to like the scent and her skin had to not be irritated by the fragrance, it had to leave my skin feeling soft, and it had to have multiple scents available. This initial criteria led us to try Duke Cannon THICK Body Wash. So did we nail it on the first try or does the search for a non-slipping body wash continue?
Duke Cannon THICK Body Wash Review
This Duke Cannon THICK Body Wash was a new product to us, but Duke Cannon as a company was not. They have a pretty weird Instagram, and it shows up on social media all the time. The photos above and below are examples of the types of posts common on the Duke Cannon Instagram.
We’re totally down with the overall energy of Duke Cannon, and the THICK Body Wash has some pretty insanely positive reviews on Amazon, so we decided to give it a try. The customer review that really put us over the edge was the following:
We picked up the productivity scent and tested it out for a few weeks. We can confirm that this stuff was GOOD, and we were fans of it overall. That said, being good wasn’t the criteria that we laid out. So we’ll break it down for you. Does Duke Cannon Thick Body Wash resist slipping, leave your skin feeling soft, have multiple (good) scents available, and does my fiancĂ© like it?
Resist Slipping: The Duke Cannon Thick Body Wash was essentially created not to slip. Just read this marketing line from Duke Cannon “THICK High-Viscosity Body Wash is engineered to work effectively on your body, not spew down the shower drain.” We can confirm that it stayed in our hands and won’t be slipping during your early morning showers. That’s ¼.
Skin: This is what truly won us over. I loved the way this made me feel clean. I’ve never been a huge fan of washing with washcloths or loofahs, and the high-viscosity of this body wash will make you feel clean after. Best of all, it isn’t like alternative options that use microbeads to be exfoliating. It truly is difficult to explain how nice it feels to use. That’s 2/4.
Scents: Duke Cannon THICK Body Wash is available in five scents: Bay Rum, Buffalo Trace, Naval Diplomacy, Old Glory, and Productivity. The names aren’t all that descriptive, so we’ll help you break it down. Our personal favorites are Productivity and Bay Rum. Productivity is a mix of peppermint, pine, and eucalyptus. If you are a tea tree fan, you will be all over this one. Bay Rum is a total mix-up. The combination of Citrus Musk, Cedarwood, and Island Spice gives a scent very similar to Old Spice. That’s 3/4.
Does the FiancĂ© like it? She 100% does! It passed the fiancĂ© test with flying colors. In fact, she was sniffing me a bit close to be honest. That’s 4/4.
Should you try Duke Cannon Thick Body Wash?
We think it’s GOOD. If you have been looking to step-up your shower game, and branch out of the traditional brands (Old Spice, Irish Spring, Axe, etc.) We think you will be a fan of Duke Cannon THICK Body Wash. The price is a little higher than its competitors, but we found that you actually have to use less to get a good lather, so it evens out. Amazon has a multi-pack with four different scents if you really want to jump in feet first.
