Can Schmidt's Natural Deodorant Replace Your Current Deodorant?

For pretty much my entire life, I have used Right Guard Xtreme Gel Deodorant. I don’t have a clue as to how I landed on the scent, or if it was even me (thanks mom?), but it was my first deodorant and therefore my deodorant for every day after. For over a decade now, every single time I went to the store, I had eyes for one deodorant and one deodorant only: Right Guard Xtreme Gel Deodorant.

That’s why when I received “The Grooming Kit” from Target as a gift and it included Schmidt’s deodorant, I felt strange. Was I even capable of using another deodorant? Would I smell bad before the day was over? With sweaty palms and plenty of anxiety, I applied Schmidt's deodorant and went to work for the day.

It wasn’t until 17 hours later when I was getting ready for bed that I realized I loved Schmidt's deodorant. My armpits smelled great (even that much time later), my skin was soft, and my shirt had absolutely zero deodorant stains. My deodorant game was changed forever. I instantly forgot about my once-upon-a-time love of Right Guard Gel Deodorant and made a full pivot to Schmidt's. It appeared I wasn't the first to make the switch, either. When I went in my local Meijer (a Midwest hybrid of Walmart and Target) they were almost completely sold out. I knew I had found a gem. So, as we do here at Help Me Pick, I put on my best reviewer hat and determined that I would help you understand why you should try Schmidt’s natural deodorant.

Schmidt’s Natural Deodorant Review

I was sold on Schmidt’s before I even knew anything about the benefits of natural deodorant based on my quick trial. Traditional deodorant will generally have antiperspirant in it. Most commonly, this is some type of aluminum salt. Natural deodorant skips the aluminum and instead just focuses on making you smell good. Natural deodorant is great for people who want to use clean beauty products or have sensitive armpits. If you’ve ever experienced an armpit rash, you know it’s a 0/10 time. That may very well be why you are here looking into Schmidt’s Deodorant. If you’re interested in natural deodorant still, read on to see why Schmidt’s may be the one to replace your current daily deodorant. Now that I have felt the difference, I cannot imagine ever going back to traditional deodorant full time.

Schmidt’s deodorant applies cleanly, and then you forget it’s there. When I used Right Guard, I was always reminded it was there by the small white flakes when it dried and the occasional itchy armpits. I cannot explain how nice it is to not even feel your deodorant, but to still know you are protected.

I do suggest reading the instructions on Schmidt's deodorant, as they do state to hold the deodorant on your armpit for a couple seconds to soften it before applying. I find that I am perfectly able to apply Schmidt's either way, but get a more consistent layer, that uses less deodorant, if I follow this one simple step.

Schmidt’s Natural Deodorant isn’t quite perfect, though. It has a FIRM 24 hour life. If you have a very consistent routine where you shower every morning and apply deodorant right after, you’ll probably experience the same love at first sight like I did. If you have a less consistent schedule, and go longer than 24 hours without a shower or reapplication, you’ll need to swap deodorants.

I couldn't tell you anything about the ingredients in my tried and true Right Guard. I just knew it was deodorant - whatever that means. The secret to Schmidt’s Deodorant is the premium ingredients. The shea butter and coconut oil apply buttery smooth and leave you comfortable all day while the essential oils leave you smelling super fresh, no matter the scent. You can feel good about using the product, as they are certified cruelty free and vegan. The downside here is that these premium, ethically sourced ingredients come at a cost. Speed Stick Deodorant (Amazon's choice for men's deodorant) is currently around $1.83/Ounce on Amazon, while Schmidt’s is around $3.18/Ounce on Amazon. This is definitely on the pricier side of deodorants, but on par with other natural options.

Should You Try Schmidt's Deodorant?

We say yes! If you experience deodorant rashes, are conscious of the ingredients you put on your body, or have even just been wanting to treat yourself, then you owe it to yourself to try Schmidt's Natural Deodorant. If you are simply just looking for the cheapest deodorant that will leave you odor free, we would keep searching.

What is the Best Schmidt’s Deodorant Scent?

One of my favorite things about Schmidt’s Deodorant is the variety of scents that it is available in. You don’t have to smell like “cool rush” (whatever that is). Instead, you get real options like Rose & Vanilla, Sandalwood & Citrus, or even Jasmine Tea. If you want to go with a more basic scent, try Fresh Cucumber or Coconut & Pineapple. Many of Schmidt's Deodorant scents are meant to be gender-neutral, and you won't find an overpowering scent either way. That said, Rose & Vanilla was probably the most feminine scent. Most Schmidt's scents would be better described as clean as opposed to attributed to a typical gendered scent.

My personal favorite scent is Fresh Fir & Spice. The “spice” is actually spicy citrus, and it leaves you smelling like you just stepped out of the shower, without being overpowering. If anyone ever finds a body wash that smells exactly like this, I would be 100% sold. Like seriously, please use our Contact Us page or the comments below to let me know.

So, I hope you give Schmidt's Natural Deodorant a try, since I feel like it really changed the game for me. It was an easy way to step up my grooming routine without adding additional steps or complications at 6 a.m. in the morning. The conclusion to this "Should I Try It?" is a resounding yes.
