We Smelled All of the Cereal Candles at Target so You Don't Have to (Target Cereal Candles Review)

General Mills made our childhood great by keeping a constant supply of cocoa, cinnamon, and sugary sweetness in our kitchens. Target has made our adulthood great by keeping a constant supply of trendy products, cute clothes, and endless "little treat" purchases in our homes. 

Never did we imagine that Target and General Mills would make our childhood-turned-adulthood dreams come true in one package. Sorry, we’re being ominous. We’re trying to build excitement, because we were really pumped to see these hit the shelves of our local store. 

Of course, we’re referring to the TikTok-famous cereal-scented candles that Target recently started to carry. They are available in five different scents inspired by your favorite childhood breakfasts: Cinnamon Toast Crunch, Lucky Charms, Honey Nut Cheerios, Trix, and Cocoa Puffs. 

4oz jar options of each scent are available for shipping exclusively at Target, and the retailer expects them to sell out quickly. Larger options are available in-store if you happen to be making a Target run. 

We held up traffic at an endcap to find the top three options so you don’t have to. To be honest, it was kind of awkward, but that’s our commitment to making your decisions easier. 

Good: Lucky Charms

We have to be honest, this does not smell like when you first open the box of Lucky Charms and you’re trying to sneak extra marshmallows before your parents catch you. This candle smells like a very nice vanilla marshmallow and would be lovely in your home. The packaging will help you reminisce and be a clear reminder of the candle’s inspiration, but it lacks that distinctive cereal smell. It’s a solid candle, but we wouldn’t call it cereal-scented.

Better: Cinnamon Toast Crunch

This one is tough to describe, but we will try anyway. This is actually the best smelling candle of them all. It’s deliciously warm and cozy, and the strong cinnamon-swirl smell is perfect to burn in the upcoming fall weather. While we are ranking these on how well they smell in general, we cannot give it our top spot because we also care deeply about how accurate they are to their yummy inspiration. This has a notable “cereal scent,” but it just isn’t Cinnamon Toast Crunch. 

Best: Honey Nut Cheerios

Wow. If you want to feel like you’re sticking your face in a fresh box of Honey Nut Cheerios, this is the candle for you. It’s actually impressive how true the scent is to its original. It has the true cereal smell and it just smells good in general. The honey and vanilla notes blend perfectly for a lovely candle that is sure to brighten up your home and take you back every time it burns. 

Are the Cereal Candles from Target Worth it?

We would recommend any of these candles depending on what you are looking for. If accuracy is your primary reason for grabbing one of these, it’s Honey Nut Cheerios. If you are hoping for some autumn vibes in a yummy candle form, choose the Cinnamon Toast Crunch. Lastly, if you just want a solid, sweet-smelling candle, try the Lucky Charms.

What is the Burn Time on Target Cereal Candles?

The burn time of the Target cereal candles will vary based off which size you select. However, these candles were clearly made to be novelty and not your everyday candle. We wouldn't expect them to last too long.
